From the late 1890s and throughout the 1960s, several thousand people from Lista went to the USA (vividly described in several books by Professor Siv Ringdal). Most people from here traveled to the East Coast. New York and the borough of Brooklyn were favourites. Although Vanse is a small place in the true sense of the word (2016 residents), the emigration has created a strong American identity and connection to American retro culture. Especially 1950s and 1960s New York and the borough of Brooklyn are a favourite theme and recurring theme at Lista and Vanse. Source-visit-south.
We recommend our guests to calculate 4-7 days in the area to see what Kaper town Farsund. What America inspired Vanse and Lista represent. Norberg Fort with war memories. Borhaug, the idyllic village at the tip of Lista. And not least Lista lighthouse.
Borhaug is a beach resort in the far west of Lista, near Lista lighthouse, in Farsund municipality in Agder county, Norway. The densely populated part of Borhaug is part of the village of Vestbygd. Here is a breakwater facility and a harbour for smaller vessels, previously there was also a boat building. Listerskøyta Coastal Culture Centre is now located on the square. Here is also Vestbygda Chapel. Source: Borhaug – Store norske leksikon. Snl.no
Farsund has 10 km of long, beautiful, and striking sandy beaches to offer for those who want to enjoy the beach life and the presence of the sea. Along the Lista beaches you can go for long walks, swim, play and watch the birdlife. Lista beaches are at the same time among the best in the country for sea sports, windsurfing and kiting. Lomsesanden is one of the popular beaches, here it is shallow and excellent for the little ones. From Lomsesanden you can take the trip to Loshavn over Kirkeskaret or walk towards Husebystranden around Einarsneset.
Einarsneset is a favourite hiking area in all kinds of weather, all year round, and many trails that allow you to get new experiences every time. Small coves and beaches give you the opportunity to find a beach all to yourself. After Einasneset you meet Husebysanden and from here you can continue along the Lista beaches all the way to Lista!
Due to Lista's rich plant and bird life, large parts of the beaches are protected areas and have extended leash restrictions for dogs and bans for windsurfing in some places.
